2013 already?

I must have had an awful lot of fun in order for 2012 to have evaporated so rapidly.

Alas, here we are.

Friday, October 12

That water is already gone.

I've been off for the last four days fishing other water, dang, could've been hitting the trout.

Tuesday, September 18

Great morning (yesterday)

I was pulling a size 12 olive hares ear at a snails pace, and every now and then I'd raise the tip and let it fall, during one of these rhythms, a catfish mouth found it's way around the fly. Quite the tugger. As far as I know, with the catfish, I've caught all fishing species in the lake.

Wednesday, September 5

me thinks the fishing is back

a couple of tuggers from a morning session. This evening brought some nice action, but the biggest missed the hook.. B-). I'll be heading out early tomorrow morning to take advantage of this cooler clime.

Friday, August 3

Backing snatchers

Ah, good day today. Been wanting to chase the carp in this lake (Argyle Lake) for some time. Sigh, gotta gets better reel. Can't palm the one I have, and the drag is a joke.  But 3x tippet and the 5 weight Evotec handled these babies just fine. Did have to walk around the lake to borrow a net.

Friday, July 20

Just another rainy day.

The fish are still there, the water won't poach them today. Maybe if it let's up in a little bit I'll go test the Water with a couple of new buglets I twisted. Any time fishing is preferable to sitting here listening to both my dogs snoring.

Sure cooled off. From high eighties to mid sixties last night, and it's in the seventies now. Even feels like good fishing. I'll let ya know.

Tuesday, July 17

One-sided sunburn

On my ankles and calves. Ouch. Fishing was okay. Little largemouth and fat gillies.

Wednesday, July 4

Hot weather seems to equal

Small guys. Small flies. The lakes are like warm bath water. Been going out like an hour before sunrise.

Tuesday, June 26

Wow, so much rain yesterday.

Was out fishing, alas I was ill prepared. The big boys were out but not interested in anything I tossed. Shoulda took the 'big boy' fly box.

Sunday, June 17

Beautiful Evening with lots of fatties

So the evening starts with one of these, the proverbial 'fly in the eye' (or is that 'fly in the pie'?). In any event, I guess this fattie never heard about fish shades to protect the eyes...bugger still gave quite a little battle. A little quick surgery and I believe the important stuff of the eye is still intact...

The setting sun really livened up the colors of these babies...and there were six or seven more. A couple got off which really surprised me. So, I went to a size 8 black stone fly and man did the action really pick up!

Just gotta mention that I'm really enjoying this Loop Evotec five weight...I like it so much, I may get another one, tho' I'm tossing around the idea of the Goran Andersson Signature rod in a four weight...maybe at the end of the year if I've saved enough. We'll see then.

As always, I appreciate your stopping by and checking out my little fishing excusions.
Cheers.

Interesting Bug Day

Interesting bug I ran across while turning over rocks.
Took a little while to track it down on the 'net. But I found out it's called a Mole Cricket.
A little dry fly action is always good for the reflexes!
 Fish just can't refuse it...
and, of course, the slabs will chase it down...
As do the skinny kids on the block.

Fishing has been kinda slow the last couple of days. A lot of rain and wind and the pickerel were still biting...
Didn't get any pix of them, will next time... Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Thursday, June 7

I've been stalking this guy and his crew for quite a while. 5x tippet, 15-20 minutes laters
and it came to hand.
Drying fly fishing was exciting yesterday.
These little guys are fast.
And, let's not forget Black Cat who is already ready to warm my neck and cuddle after a long day of fishing.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wednesday, May 23

Weather was iffy, but it was a multi-species day...

ah, think of it as a CSI moment. Nature's doing what
Nature does...

 This was a dinner plate!

Love dem bugz
